The installation finally went with a better zip file, but it tells me that the Database drivers weren't loaded because the Library\database folder is read only. Can't get it to CHMOD it differently. What can I do? What am I missing without database drivers which I can imagine is the important kind of element for which I bought Table JX.

Hi,
this is important if you want to connect to Oracle or MS-SQL databases.
If you have administrative privileges you can change from read only to writable folder, and run installation again, or just copy files (mssql.php, mssql2000.php, oracle.php) from zip in folder database to your joomla folder - \libraries\joomla\database\database
